The last 100 days that separate the students of the ‘Bora’ course at the conclusion of their stay at the ‘G. Douhet’ Air Force Military School. This is one of the most important and awaited events by the students who are in their final year of a Military School, as it marks the 100 days remaining until the end of the School. The expression ‘Mak p 100’ dates back to 1840, when the period of stay of the students at the Military Academy in Turin was set at three years. On that occasion, a student, Count Emanuele Balbo Bertone of Sambuy, exclaimed ‘mac pi tre anni’, which in Piedmontese dialect meant ‘only three more years’. Since then, the expression ‘Mak p 100’ has been used to indicate that there are one hundred days left until the end of the stay at a military school or an Academy. The special evening was attended by Brigadier General Claudio Salerno, Commander of the ISMA, who first wanted to highlight the commitment shown by the young trainees over the past three years and the fundamental support of their families in supporting the delicate task the School undertakes to grow and train its students.
The ‘Evolution’ group of dancers with their unique choreography contributed to the festivities. The beautiful model and testimonial of a campaign by the Tuscany Region, Marta Cecchetto, took on the role of patron of the ‘Bora’ course for the evening.
During the evening, a moment of solidarity was also held in support of the Banco Alimentare Foundation, represented by Mr. Natale Bazzanti. .
At the end of the dinner, the ‘Bora’ course students greeted the guests and their families with the traditional cutting of the ‘Mak p 100’ cake and, with it, virtually the bond that has united them with the Douhet School for the past three years. As a demonstration of the students’ commitment, from the first to the final 100 days, the excellent performance of the students in the student games held at the Ridolfi Stadium, to which all the schools in Florence participated, was outstanding. In the various athletics competitions held, the students achieved excellent results, winning several silver and gold medals in the 4×100 relay, thus becoming the 1st ranked team in the 2010 School Olympics.
