In the Defence Staff's exhibition space, the Italian Air Force's projection assets are also on display.
On the days from 12 to 15 March, the Italian Air Force participated in the international trade fair event “LetExpo 2024” held at the Veronafiere exhibition centre and promoted by ALIS (Association for Sustainable Intermodal Logistics). Within the space set up by the Defence General Staff, the Armed Force was present with “expeditionary” assets, meaning those deployable in multiple contexts, belonging to the 3rd Wing. The aim was to showcase the peculiarities of military logistics as a guarantee of support for national interests and the population, both in Italy and abroad, even in emergency situations.
In particular, on display for the occasion were an LD3-M1 Hospital Waste Treatment Module, a easily transportable container used for treating potentially infectious hospital waste, a Veragon V12 Atmospheric Generator, machinery capable of generating drinking water from the atmosphere by extracting it from air humidity and using a minimal amount of electrical energy, and a Field Installations Wastewater Pre-treatment Plant, machinery capable of removing unwanted substances from water so that it can be returned to the environment purified.
Also present at the event, within the scope of logistical support activities for air operations, were personnel and assets from the F.A.R.P. (Forward Arming and Refuelling Point) capability, men and women employed to increase effectiveness in the conduct of Special Operations, ensuring the availability of fuel and equipment even in isolated areas and in logistically complex contexts.
These arrangements highlight the technological evolution of the Armed Forces' force projection logistics, aimed at promoting increasingly sustainable development of intermodal transport and increasingly innovative growth of integrated logistics.
The Air Force, through the 3rd Wing, projects and deploys field equipment and command and control structures in Italy and abroad to support the community, even in emergencies and with respect for the environment in which it is called to operate.
