On the 9th and 10th of March, in Verona, the Italian Air Force took part in Model Expo Italy 2024, a national event dedicated to static modelling, dynamic modelling and gaming.

Aviation enthusiasts of all ages and the simply curious had the opportunity to get closer to the aeronautical world and learn about the peculiarities of Projection Logistics used to support the exercises and operations of the Italian Air Force.

For the occasion, some capabilities supplied to the 3rd Wing were displayed. Among these, of particular interest is the FARP (Forward Arming and Refuelling Point) Capability which, thanks to the vehicles and equipment provided, makes it possible to set up a refuelling site with a small footprint.

This capability ensures, even in a joint forces context, a high level of effectiveness in the conduct of military operations and in relief efforts for the civilian population, as occurred during the earthquake that struck central Italy in 2016.

Now in its 19th edition and considered by modelling enthusiasts to be the most important in Italy and among the leading ones in Europe, the event took place at the Verona Exhibition Centre stands, covering an area of 63,000 square metres.

The 3rd Wing, a body subordinate to the Support Services Command, an expression of competence and capability of excellence in the CBRN sector of the Italian Air Force, by the very nature of its “mission” he is engaged in the study and continuous research of new augmented and virtual reality technologies applicable in the military and civil fields, which are increasingly useful to the country.
