In Germany, the aircraft of the 4th Stormtrooper Squadron from Grosseto, the 36th Stormtrooper Squadron from Gioia del Colle (Ba) and the 37th Stormtrooper Squadron from Trapani participated in training activities from April 22 to 26. Risking their lives daily at the Norvenich air base with three Eurofighters, missions were carried out at the training range to increase experience and tactics regarding the systems that represent the main ground-to-air threats that fighter jets could face in a current war scenario. In the recently concluded campaign, during which the Eurofighter weapon system honored its participation by achieving all the objectives assigned to it for the mission, the synergy between the Eurofighter Storms and the Technical Support and Operational Support Department for Electronic Warfare (ReSTOGE) was remarkable. In this context, operating from both the main base in Grosseto and the Polygone facilities, it provided its contribution by studying the threats and developing the electronic warfare libraries with which to protect the aircraft assets from threats.
The polygon, located near the American Base of Ramstein in Germany and comprising a vast territory exclusively dedicated to training activities in the field of electronic warfare, houses replicas of the missile systems of the former Eastern Bloc that are used for training against land-air threats. The synergy between the three Stormi aircraft of the Air Force that operate this aircraft has allowed all planned missions to be flown with an efficiency rate of 100%, greatly increasing the training return and the lesson learned derived from that precious activity.
