Admiral Di Paola’s Conference at the Air Academy It was a welcome return to Pozzuoli after two years since his last visit to the Air Academy, then as Minister of Defense.
Introducing the distinguished guest, the Commandant of the Air Academy, Gen. S.A. Fernando Giancotti, highlighted his high professional qualities and prestigious positions held, including that of Chief of Staff of the Defense, that of Chairman of the NATO Military Committee and, subsequently, that of Minister of Defense. The Commandant of the Academy then invited the attendees to seize the opportunity offered to them to expand their thinking capabilities and reflect on the dynamics of the development of the international security framework.
The conference, to which all the attendees took part, aroused great interest and participation. The Admiral encouraged the young cadets to develop new ideas, to have the courage to change and to feel an important part of the process of integration of the European Armed Forces, which will lead to reconsidering the transatlantic relationship and the role of Europe in it. Such a rethinking is necessary today due to the awareness of the systemic inability to predict future scenarios, even in the short term.
At the end of the conference, General Giancotti presented Admiral Di Paola with the traditional crest of the Air Academy.
