From 14 to 16 April 2026, the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London hosted the’ITEC 2026, among the most significant European events in the field of advanced training based on technologies Modelling and simulation for Defence. In this prestigious international context, characterised by the participation of the leading industrial players in the sector, the Air Force – through the 10th Aircraft Maintenance Department in Lecce Galatina – provided a highly qualified contribution, operating in synergy with Leonardo in the presentation of innovative training solutions.
The department's staff were directly involved in carrying out operational demonstrations in an environment of Virtual reality, aimed at highlighting the potential of immersive technologies applied to maintenance training. In particular, specific scenarios were presented (Use caserelating to technical activities on aircraft, including engine test simulations with anomaly management and interactive sessions dedicated to the location and identification of avionics, hydraulic and structural components of the new trainer T-345A by Leonardo.
The demonstrative activities have realistically reproduced complex operational contexts, highlighting how the use of virtual reality represents a key element for the evolution of training processes. These tools, in fact, allow for increased training effectiveness, optimised learning times, and guaranteed high safety standards, reducing the use of operational resources in compliance with the new regulatory framework.
The participation of the 10th RMV in ITEC 2026 confirms the central role of the Air Force in the development and adoption of technologically advanced and innovative solutions, as well as the importance of synergetic and productive collaboration with national industry, for the promotion of the Italian System and Italian excellence worldwide.
