From 22nd to 24th May, the Fiera di Roma hosted the International Training and Education Conference (ITEC) 2013
The event, as well as offering a comprehensive overview of the sector's latest innovations, represented an opportunity to discuss market developments. Numerous speeches by experts, coordinated by Air Squad General Carlo Magrassi, took place throughout the duration of the event.
In the exhibition area dedicated to the Armed Forces, the Italian Air Force presented the Eurofighter E-ACPT (Enhanced Aircrew Cockpit Procedure Trainer) aircraft simulator, developed by Alenia, which brought the reference system twin to the devices available at the Grosseto and Gioia del Colle air bases; an AW139 First Flight helicopter simulator (VIPT – Virtual Interactive Procedural Trainer), to demonstrate the level of virtual simulation for the procedural training of flight crews; and a MALE UAV demonstrator-simulator, to show a stealth view featuring a Predator model and a geographical scenario displaying various threats correlated by different sensors (E/O, IR). This was done to support the study of potential employment concepts for RPAS systems (the demonstrator represented a segment of the UAS Battle Lab that will soon be installed at Amendola at the RPAS CoE).
The use of the new simulation systems enables daily training to be carried out with a high level of realism and without any risk to Armed Forces personnel. It will be possible to simulate faults and emergencies during flight phases, or exercises and operational trials conducted in complex tactical scenarios.
Advanced simulation systems make it possible to keep personnel training at the highest levels in a safe, cost-effective way while considerably reducing environmental impact.
