Great success of the audience and enthusiasm for the 5th edition of the International Half Marathon held along the avenues of the City of Caserta and within the Royal Park It concluded the fifth edition of the international half marathon “Reggia – Reggia” and the “Family Run” 2018, in which about 2300 runners participated, both athletes and enthusiasts, in a setting of great occasion. Piazza Carlo III was literally invaded by the citizens of Caserta and not only. There were both the unavoidable enthusiasts and entire families who challenged the cold wind of a sunny Sunday to participate in an event that, in Caserta, is already a tradition. The Scuola Specialisti A.M., under the aegis of the 5th Department of the SMA and the Air Force Schools Command, has set up the gazeboes in the shadow of the Vanvitelli Palace where it was possible to listen, from the live voices of the expert specialists, to the technical explanation of the instruments and equipment on display or the operation of the medical nursing equipment on display, as well as of course to provide information on the recruitment procedures in the Air Force. The support of the Arma Aeronautica Association – Caserta Section was also indispensable, which, with the setting up of its own space, showed aerial models and equipment that attracted the keen interest of both young and old who were particularly impressed by the stand of radio amateurs (GRAMI Caserta Section, ARI and MDXC) able to, using a self-built antenna, connect 140 devices to 14 European countries in two hours and thirty hours of activity. Many authorities who, participating in person in the competition, wanted to show their closeness to the event by bringing the Mayor of the City of Caserta, who took part in the Family Run, and the Commander of the Air Academy, Gen. Enrico Degni, among the runners in the half marathon at the starting blocks. The Commander of the School of Specialists, Col. Nicola Gigante, in greeting the runners at the starting line, emphasized that the event is part of the broader framework of institutional collaboration and the School’s closeness to the city of Caserta and its citizens, so that they can grow together always with an emphasis on the values of respect, loyalty, solidarity, and meritocracy, which are also the values inherent in sport. The participation of the Air Force was also enriched by the presence of the Fanfara of the Command of Schools/3rd Air Region, which opened the competition by playing the national anthem at the start, and then, during the sporting event, contributed, through musical performances, to enhancing the event, making it a true celebration of music and sport. The School of Specialists is a military institute for the training of basic initial education, specialized technical training, instruction, refresher training, specialization, qualification and retraining of personnel of the Air Force, the Other Armed Forces, Armed Corps and non-State entities, as well as personnel of foreign Armed Forces. It is subordinate to the Command of Schools/3rd Air Region, based in Bari.
