The Frecce Tricolori return to perform in Marina di Massa after 18 years
On 24 July, whole families and many children arrived at Marina di Massa to watch the Frecce Tricolori air display and enjoy a thrilling, adrenaline-fuelled spectacle that had been missing for 18 years. A large audience was able to witness not only the Frecce Tricolori's performance but also the demonstration Search and Rescue of one HH139A helicopter of the 15th Wing in Cervia and the launch of Italian Army and Carabinieri paratroopers from a C-130J aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa flying in formation with a C-27J of the same Brigade.
The event took place on the Tyrrhenian coast where thousands of people, for about two hours, participated with their noses in the air, admiring the aircraft and their performances. The backdrop of the sea and the Apuan Alps made this show memorable, which finally, after a period of pandemic emergency, was able to allow aircraft of all kinds to perform for the present audience. The Frecce Tricolori were naturally present and held the audience spellbound with their display for about 25 minutes. A programme that, thanks to a Intense and continuous training, allowing for the creation of incredible acrobatic “figures” in the sky – with less than two metres between each aircraft. Among these, the “bomb“, that of the “heart”and of the“spark“.
At the air show, the first in Tuscany in 2022, vehicles from the Guardia di Finanzia also participated. Using an AB412 helicopter and two fast boats, they simulated the interception at sea of a clandestine vessel.
Finally, alongside the military components, other civilian aerobatic assets will be present, including C26 aircraft, a CAP231 aerobatic aircraft, 4 ADV Fly Roma microlights, a Pitts 2SB aerobatic aircraft, two RW8 aerobatic aircraft, and a CAP232 aerobatic aircraft.
In the days leading up to the’Air show the MB339PAN aircraft were able to rely on logistical and operational support offered by the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa where the PAN re-deployed along with the HH-139A helicopter of the 15th Wing.
