On Thursday, February 11, the Deputy Mayor of Reggio Emilia handed over to Gen. B.A. Baldi a copy of the flag Present in the Aula Magna; in addition to a large group of military and civilian authorities, the representatives of the Arma Aeronautica Association of Reggio Emilia and the students of two schools from Reggio Emilia were also present.
Mrs. Barbati outlined the highlights that led to the establishment of the Confederation first and the Cispadane Republic then, which adopted the Tricolore for the first time in 1796, highlighting the exemplary role of civilization represented by the personnel in uniform. General Baldi recalled that the Tricolore represents for the military the synthesis of established principles such as love for the homeland, the sense of duty, honor, and discipline for which 10,445 students have undertaken, since 1923 to the present, the military career starting in the Aeronautical Academy, of whom 1,103 have made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. General Gargini urged the young cadets to operate as professionals and modern military officers at the service of the homeland and its institutions.
The ceremony continued with the performance of Maestro Riccardo Marasco, who performed a repertoire of Renaissance songs in keeping with the evening’s theme.
