On Wednesday, May 8th, the Frecce Tricolori painted the skies of Bari with their tricolour. As is tradition, the 84th SAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Centre in Gioia del Colle (BA), belonging to the 15th Wing of Cervia, preceded the Frecce Tricolori's display with a SAR demonstration using the new HH-139A helicopter. During this, a simulated rescue of a shipwreck survivor was carried out using the rescue winch. In this way, the public was shown the contribution the Italian Air Force, through the 15th Wing and its SAR Centres, provides to the entire community, ensuring Search and Rescue services across the nation's territory and waters, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
On the evening of 7 May, accompanied by Air Force General Mario Renzo Ottone, Commander of the Air Force Schools/3rd Air Region, the Frecce Tricolori pilots were received in the council chamber by the Mayor of Bari, Dr. Michele Emiliano, who expressed words of affection and appreciation for the Armed Forces and, in particular, for the Italian Air Force, highlighting that the PAN aerobatic display is becoming a necessary event for the city of Bari and how much love the Frecce Tricolori receive from the citizens.“
A love earned and deserved over the years“General Ottone also emphasised this strong bond that has existed since 1983 and is renewed every 2 years, highlighted by the reception that the citizens give to the Frecce Tricolori pilots.
The Commander of the Schools, therefore, thanked the Municipality of Bari, the entrepreneurs, the economic operators and the associations of Bari and its Province for the financial and economic help that allowed the many events for the feast of San Nicola to be held.
