The prize is awarded annually to Florentine figures who have most distinguished themselves in the fields of art and culture
The award, now in its 23rd edition and established by the Society of Saint John the Baptist in 1796, is annually conferred upon Florentine personalities who have most distinguished themselves in the fields of art and culture by combining spiritual elevation with material elevation. This year's awardees are: the Head Coach of our National Football Team, Cesare Prandelli; the President of Caritas, His Excellency Bishop Claudio Maniago; and one of the founders of the Academy of Sacred Art of Florence, Mr Ginollo Ginori Conti. The event was presided over by Air Division General Gianfranco Camperi, Commander of ISMA (Institute of Military Aeronautical Sciences), and the President of the City Council, Mr Eugenio Giani, with the participation of the choir of the Military Aeronautical School. The latter, in particular, introduced the event by performing “The Song of the Italians”of Mameli, National Anthem since 1946. Choir activities are part of the extracurricular activities carried out by the Military Aeronautics School. In particular, the activity of the choir, together with the Musical Band, represents an opportunity for growth in the School's music workshop that allows aggregation and comparison for the Students of the“Douhet”.
