Kuwait: Visit of the Italian Military Ordinary to IT NCC Air – TFA-K

Meeting with staff and visit to the operational units of the Italian contingent

The Military Ordinary for Italy, His Excellency the Most Reverend Gian Franco Saba, _, undertook a two-day institutional visit to the Italian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air Kuwait (IT NCC Air – TFA K), meeting with the staff of Italian contingent deployed as part of the’Operation First PathicaOperation Inherent Resolve.

Welcomed by the Commander of IT NCC Air – TFA K, Colonel Marco Mangini, and from the Military Chaplain, Don Stefano Aita, Mons. Saba initially participated in a staff meeting during which the organisation of the Contingent, the assigned mission, and the main operational activities carried out in support of Coalition international anti-ISIS coalition, to which Italy has contributed since 2014.

During the visit, the’Military Ordinary he met with the personnel on duty and visited Task Group Typhoon, one of the IT NCC Air – TFA K Flying Groups, engaged in carrying out surveillance and reconnaissance missions for the benefit of the Coalition.

The second day was dedicated to further discussions with the Contingent's personnel and the signing of the Honour Rolls of the IT NCC Air – TFA K and the Joint Administrative Management Centre (CAI-I).

During the meeting, Mgr Saba expressed words of thanks and gratitude on behalf of the Military Ordinariate for the commitment shown by the Italian personnel in the operational theatre, far from their loved ones. He recalled the value of service as a contribution to stability, dialogue, and cooperation between peoples. In this context, Colonel Mangini highlighted the value of the visit as an opportunity for closeness and attention to the personnel deployed in the operational theatre.

The visit concluded with the celebration of Mass for Holy Christmas at the “Madonna di Loreto” Jubilee Chapel, in which the Contingent's personnel took part.
