Kuwait: new milestones for the Italian Air Force aircraft of the IT NCC AIR

The contribution of the Italian Air Force assets deployed to the mission in Kuwait as part of the fight against Daesh

The’Italian National Air Contingent Command deployed in Kuwait and Iraq has seen in the last month the achievement of new and important operational milestones by the Italian Air Force air assets assigned to it within the framework of the National Operation First Parthian integrated into the International Operation Inherent Resolve is established for the prevention and fight against Daesh.

The aircraft Boeing KC-767A deployed in Kuwait since 2014 with the CheersSK Group Breus of the Task Force Air Kuwait, has reached the important milestone of 9,000 flight hours completed in the theatre of operations. It carries out air-to-air refuelling operations (Air-to-Air Refuelling), thus increasing the amount of fuel available in flight to other aircraft assets of the Coalition, thus allowing them to prolong their stay in the areas where the air operations are taking place military.

The Eurofighter del Task Group Typhoon they have recently reached another important milestone: the 5,000 flight hours completed. Starting from the first deployment to Kuwait, at the Al Jaber air base from March 2019 to August 2020 and subsequently from April 2021 to the present day deployed at Ali Al Salem, the F-2000A they have now demonstrated their full and mature operational capability in flight missions, carrying out around 1,200 sorties with a total of 5,000 flight hours.

The maintenance of Situational Awareness it was also guaranteed by the Phoenix Task Group, among the first Coalition units to be deployed in 2014 by Italy in Operation Inherent Resolve. Thanks to the professionalism of the flight crews, it has recently been possible to reach the important milestone of 14,000 flight hours completed. The technological and operational excellence of the assets and the quality and quantity of the products supplied have allowed Italy to position itself as one of the leading contributors to the fight against the cells of the Daesh, population protection and support for pacification in Iraq.

Deployed in Iraq recently near the Erbil base, the Albatros Task Group celebrated the significant milestone of 7,000 flight hours over the skies of Iraq.

The exceptionally high level of professionalism of the Italian Air Force personnel deployed outside national borders in Kuwait and Iraq, and the availability of the various technologically advanced aircraft configurations are the essential combination in the expression of the Core Operational Capabilities that the IT NCC Air, through the Task Force Air, operates daily, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
