The joint training between Italian and Iraqi aircraft continues, with the Task Group Typhoon of the Air Task Force Kuwait which tested tactics and procedures in mission types air-to-air to strengthen interoperability and coordination capability with the Iraqi Air Force.
The exercise, which falls under the initiatives planned by the multinational mission “Prima Parthica/Inherent Resolve”, saw the participation of two Eurofighter F-2000 Italians and four F-16 Iraqis, engaged in various simulated interceptions.
The Eurofighters deployed are stationed in Kuwait at Ali al-Salem Air Base. These are advanced fourth-generation multi-role (Swing Role) military aircraft, with a primary role of interceptor fighter and air superiority, which also demonstrate air-to-ground capabilities.
At the end of the training events, Colonel Matteo Zuliani, Commander of the Italian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air Kuwait, stressed the importance of training in multinational and joint contexts, which is essential for ensuring the effectiveness of operations and increasing synergy between Coalition forces, in order to guarantee international stability and security.
The’Comando Nazionale Italiano Aria / Task Force Aria Kuwait It was established on 17 October 2014 and placed under the operational command – for national aspects – of the Joint Operations Command.
