Kuwait: change of command of the Italian contingent

At the Ali Al Salem Air Base, Colonel Tommaso Tuccillo he formally handed over command of the Italian National Contingent Command Air and the Task Force Air – Kuwait (IT NCC Air/TFA-Kuwait) to his peer Giovanni Luca Nicoletti.

The ceremony, presided over by Joint Operations Headquarters Deputy Commander, Air Marshal Nicola Lanza de Cristoforis, the participation of the Italian Ambassador to Kuwait was seen, Lorenzo Morini, of the Apostolic Nuncio in Kuwait, Monsignor Eugene Martin Nugent and of a significant representation of national and international political, religious and military authorities.

At the end of the ceremony the General Lanza de Cristoforis he met the personnel of the Task Groups that make up the contingent deployed in Kuwait. Among these the Task Group Medal, which with the C130J aircraft has the mission of guaranteeing Air Lift and MEDEVAC (medical evacuation) operations, providing support in all the theatres of the Middle East where Italian troops are operating (Kuwait, Iraq, Djibouti e Somalia), he Task Group Typhoon and the Task Group Phoenix. The visit continued at the Task Group SAMP/T “Scutum, unit of excellence of the Italian Army involving anti-aircraft artillery troops tasked with contributing to the security of Kuwaiti airspace, defending against air and missile attacks.

Established on 17 October 2014 to take part in the multinational operation “Inherent Resolve”, the NCC AIR IT guarantees unity of command and logistic support for the synergistic and coordinated deployment of the assets provided by the Italian Army and the Italian Air Force within the Coalition.
