As part of the co-operation activities with’Italian Air Force Iraqi Air Force (IQAF), a joint training activity took place with the participation of aircraft Eurofighter Typhoon of the Italian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air KuwaitIT NCC AIR/TFA-Kand F-16 of the Iraqi Air Force.
The pilots undertook an “advanced air combat training” (ACT) mission to enhance the capabilities for planning and conducting joint activities among Coalition partners. In this context, Italian aircraft supported Iraqi pilots in conducting the training of an IQAF pilot, enabling them to achieve the “Mission Commander” qualification, which is necessary for operating in complex scenarios and environments characterised by modern air threats.
The activity is also linked to the recent survey by a delegation of IT NCC Air and IT NCC Land at the Iraqi base of Balad, where a complex exercise event has been scheduled. This event will soon see the participation of national and international air and land components operating in the “ mission.“Prima Parthica/Inherent Resolve”.
The Commander of IT NCC AIR/TFA-K, Colonel Matteo Zuliani, highlighted that the activity was aimed at consolidating the integration and interoperability between the forces of the nations participating in the anti-ISIS Coalition in the sectors of surveillance and reconnaissance.
The Italian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air Kuwait, established on 17 October 2014 and placed under the responsibility, for national aspects, of Interforce Summit Operational Command, participates in Operation Inherent Resolve as part of the international anti-ISIS coalition.
