The meeting between the Chief of Staff of the Air Force took place in recent days at the Decimomannu air base (CA)., Air Force Corps General Antonio Conserva, and the Commander of the German Air Force (GAF), Lieutenant General Holger Neumann, within the framework of cooperation between the two Air Forces.

During the talks, in line with the recent “Enhanced Cooperation Agreement” between the two Governments, the main areas of collaboration were explored in a climate of profound synergy, with particular reference to technological integration and operational interoperability, and to the flight training sector, which represents one of the central themes of bilateral cooperation. The Air Force, through the’International Flight Training School (IFTS), offers a concrete response to the Luftwaffe's training needs in the pilot training pathway.

The generational handover of assets occupied a significant part of the meeting: the joint management of the Eurofighter programme and the transition to the 5th generation F-35 fighter represent the backbone on which to build a modern and integrated air defence. The two leaders stressed how the sharing of these assets is the key to implementing the paradigm of’Agile Combat Employment, ensuring rapid projection and response capability in all scenarios.

The talks also included an update on new operational domains, with particular focus on the space domain, and concluded with the affirmation of the intention to continue cooperation activities in areas of mutual interest.
