The Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force met with retired senior personnel of the Air Force at the Casa dell’Aviatore. On Wednesday 5th December, in the “Sala Baracca” of the Casa dell’Aviatore in Rome, Air Squad General Giuseppe Bernardis, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, met with retired senior personnel of the Armed Force. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an overview of the regulatory measures in transit which will also lead to significant organisational and establishment effects for the Italian Air Force.
Following the welcome address by General Bernardis, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Air Squad General Roberto Corsini, illustrated the rationalisation process, which has been underway for some time now, concerning the organizational and structural framework of the Italian Air Force, with specific reference to the reduction and employment of personnel, the future operational capabilities of the Armed Force and the necessary reorganization of the Top-level Commands.
During the conference, General Bernardis proudly recalled how the Armed Force has played a leading role with absolute dedication and commendable commitment in the “Odyssey Dawn” and “Unified Protector” operations, which earned the War Flag of the Italian Air Force the award of Knight of the Military Order of Italy by the President of the Republic.
At the end of the meeting, following a passionate debate with those present on the issues that emerged during the conference, General Bernardis expressed his satisfaction with the success of the event, which proved to be an exceptional “communication tool”which has allowed the creation of a cultural exchange within the multiple generational realities that have over time alternated at the leadership of the Armed Force and which today constitute an irreplaceable source of support for the building of an informed public opinion.
