On Friday 19 November, the Alenia Aeronautica presentation ceremony will be held at the CAE of the 46th Air Brigade, in the presence of Major General Ferro. The ‘full motion’ type trainer faithfully reproduces the real aeromechanical, performance, and avionics characteristics of the aircraft. Thanks to the latest generation control systems with extremely high-frequency calculation capabilities, high-definition geographical database, and an actuator system capable of moving the device on six degrees of freedom, the simulator guarantees crews sensations comparable to reality. In the near future, simulator activity will ensure significant economic savings and help maintain the high quality of current flight crew training standards. In fact, all usual real flight operations (air drops, self-protection evasive manoeuvres, landings on semi-prepared or icy runways, and the use of NVGs – Night Vision Goggles) conducted with the aircraft in service can be reproduced, while also providing the valuable capability of simulating all real emergencies in complete safety. With this virtual training system, which will augment that of the C-130J, another transport aircraft in service with the Air Brigade, present since 2004 at the Crew Training Centre (CAE), the unit takes another step forward in terms of training capabilities. This is thanks to a tool that best prepares the flight crews of the Brigade, who are engaged in their missions worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In the future, it will serve as a benchmark for foreign Armed Forces that use, or will use, the C-27J. Multimedia Contributions Video: RTV38 from 19 November at 19.50
