Wednesday, 12th May, Queen Paola of Belgium inaugurated the exhibition dedicated to her aviator father at the ‘F. Baracca’ museum. The participation of Her Majesty Queen Paola of Belgium, the aviator's youngest daughter, along with the presence of Mr. Baracca, enabled an encounter between the families of the two most important representatives of the renowned 91st Squadron.
The exhibition, set up on the top floor of the Museum, brings together a body of unpublished materials of particular historical and aeronautical interest. There was unanimous appreciation from the authorities present, who expressed words of praise for the initiative and for the values that the aviators represented through their activities and heroic aeronautical achievements.
“The chivalrous spirit with which the antagonist was faced in aerial combat is an example that, despite the radical transformation due to technology, cannot be forgotten and must remain a cornerstone of our actions as pilots,” with these words the Commander of the 5th Wing, Colonel Paolo Cianfanelli, concluded his welcoming address to those present. The meeting concluded with a captivating photographic presentation commented on by the catalogue curator, historian Paolo Varriale, assisted by Daniele Serafini. The day ended with the laying of a commemorative wreath at the foot of the monument dedicated to Francesco Baracca in the main square of Lugo di Romagna. The exhibition will remain open to the public until July 26th at the F. Baracca Museum in Lugo di Romagna.
