The Logistics Command organised the 21st Tornado User Group Meeting in Tuscany
The meeting is held once a year, rotating among the Air Forces of the nations that operate the Tornado aircraft: Italy, Germany, the UK and Saudi Arabia. Thanks to the availability of the respective Commands, this year's meeting was held at the 4th Wing in Grosseto, the Air Force Institute of Military Sciences (ISMA) in Florence and the Selex-ES company in Campi Bisenzio (Florence). The choice of Tuscany was dictated by the opportunity to showcase important operational entities of the Armed Force alongside valuable components of Italy's cultural heritage. The meeting was extremely productive as a common forum in which the nations participating in the Tornado programme, as well as deepening their mutual understanding, exchanged the experience gained with particular attention to ways of addressing and resolving the logistical issues encountered during the operational life of the weapon system.
The guests were very impressed by the logistical and operational capability of the 4th Wing, as well as by the importance of ISMA within the Armed Force's training process, and they particularly appreciated the cultural beauty of Florence.
During the meeting, moreover, the companies Alenia Aermacchi and Selex-ES presented the aeronautical programmes of interest to the guest nations.
