Army Corps General Mario Roggio, Director-General of Persomil, visited the Italian Air Force Marshals“ School/Viterbo Airport Command. General Roggio, accompanied by Dr Concezio Berardinelli, his Deputy, and Brigadier General Mario De Carlo, Head of Persomil’s 1st Department (Recruitment), was received by Colonel Antonio Coppola, Commander of the Air Force Marshals” School and Viterbo Airport. The visit began with an informative briefing by Colonel Coppola, during which the activities carried out by the institution were outlined, with particular attention paid to the educational aspect and issues relating to conscription. General Roggio then emphasised the purpose of the visit, namely to bring the periphery closer to the centre in order to share sector-specific challenges and facilitate direct interaction with staff working at various levels. General Roggio was subsequently accompanied on a tour of the School’s logistical and training facilities, in particular the sports facilities, the classrooms, the new building designed to house the laboratories, the FATS (Firearms Training System) simulator, the shooting range, where the delegation was able to assess first-hand the functionality and quality of the facility by taking part, alongside some cadets, in a training exercise with service-issue weapons; and finally, the accommodation and recreational facilities for the personnel undergoing training. In the afternoon, the delegation met with the cadets of the 12th “Onùris’ intake, third-class marshals in their third year of study. During the meeting, the Director of Persomil emphasised the importance of the training experience, urging the cadets to recognise that their efforts today will serve them well in the future, and that the spirit of sacrifice cultivated in the classroom – through sitting exams, exercises and the challenges of studying various subjects, will build the strength that will enable them to face and overcome life’s difficulties. General Roggio emphasised that what remains of what has been learnt during these years of training represents the “semen”on which will sprout the “Future professional”, urging his students to “Always aim high”..., aware that they represent a fundamental cog in the organisation of Defence. The day concluded at the Commander's Office, where General Roggio, before signing the Book of Honour, wished to express his appreciation for the work carried out by the School and for the projects presented.
