On Tuesday, 27 April, the Chief of Staff of the Royal Netherlands AF visited the Amendola Wing, welcomed on arrival by Colonel Giunchi Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Colonel Fabio Giunchi, Commander of the Wing, who took the guests on a tour of the Wing, in order to illustrate its mission, current activities and development prospects. During the briefing on the base's activities, Colonel Giunchi gave an exhaustive picture of the reality represented by the Wing, not failing to also present the newly established APR (Remotely Piloted Aircraft) Centre of Excellence, directed by ColonelPasquale Di Palma. At the end, in addition to visiting the aforementioned Centre of Excellence, where they had the opportunity to observe the APR ‘Strix’ aircraft, they also visited the 28th Group, equipped with ‘Predator A-Plus’ UAVs, which have long been engaged in operations outside national borders and are currently being used in Afghanistan, as part of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) operation.
General Jansen thanked them for the welcome and expressed words of esteem and appreciation for the activities carried out on the Dauna base. Particular interest was, above all, aroused by the considerable experience gained by the 28th Group in the operational use of remotely piloted aircraft, for which Italy has become a recognised benchmark in Europe. At the end of the visit, General Jansen made the traditional signature in the 32nd Wing's Book of Honour.
