The first complex, entirely simulated flight operation has concluded in the presence of the Chief of the Defence Staff. From 18 to 20 July, the’Italian Air Forcehas carried out theSpartan Alliance 18-8, a complex exercise conducted in co-operation with the Warrior Preparation Centre of the U.S. Air Force in Europe Command. The extraordinary nature of this multinational training activity is due to the fact that it was an entirely computer-simulated exercise: aircraft and systems, airborne and ground-based, brought to life an extremely complex and elaborate air operation, set in a virtual and fictitious environment, but fully reflective of current geostrategic scenarios.
