On Monday 31st May and Tuesday 1st June, the Commander of the Combat Forces was welcomed upon his arrival by Lt Col Di Vincenzo.
General Corsini, who has already had the opportunity to experience the operational reality of the Detachment during previous visits, appreciated the initiatives launched by the Unit aimed, on the one hand, at strengthening airport operational capabilities and, on the other, at supporting the island's population.
In particular, he was able to concretely witness the school activities which, since 1st December 2009, have seen the Airport Detachment host eight classes from the island's municipal primary school, totalling around 140 children, and ensure the collective transport of pupils from the town to the airport. This is a complex collaboration to whose success General Corsini gave a positive boost, having always shown great attention towards relations with the island community.
General Corsini wished to emphasise how the considerable organisational effort and the undoubted difficulties are rewarded by the knowledge of having made a fundamental contribution to avoiding profound inconvenience for the island's population, and of having strengthened the bond of esteem, friendship, and mutual collaboration that has always linked the Pantesca community to the Air Force.
As he departed the island, General Corsini expressed his appreciation to the Air Force personnel for their work and wished the Detachment a future full of satisfaction.
In the meantime, Lieutenant Colonel Attilio Di Vincenzo, Commander of the Detachment, thanked General Corsini on behalf of all personnel for the attention and support provided during his tenure at the Command of Fighting Forces, wishing him the deepest satisfaction in the continuation of his career.
