At the center of the visit to the School in Viterbo was a conference on the topic of Public Information in the Armed Forces. The conference was attended by cadets of the three courses in education, as well as a representative of the permanent staff.
The event is part of the activities planned within the Study Plan of the Marescialli School, which includes, precisely, the participation of prestigious figures from the Armed Forces in various areas of competence, in order to offer a qualified perspective on topics of absolute interest and importance.
During the conference, General Magnani illustrated a concrete case of “crisis communication”: the flight accident that occurred in France on October 23, 2008 involving a HH3F helicopter of the 84th SAR (Search and Rescue) Center in Brindisi. General Magnani focused on the public information activities carried out by the Press Office of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force in order to manage the dramatic event from a media perspective, with particular attention to the temporal phases that characterized it.
General Magnani, in inviting those present to consider that during their careers everyone could be called upon to deal with the media, highlighted the effectiveness and importance of communication in the management of institutional activities and repeatedly emphasized, referring to the concrete case analyzed, the close connection between aspects of Public Information and issues related to Flight Safety, sectors that are, moreover, the subject of particular attention and study by future Marshals of the Armed Forces.
The conference attracted the keen interest of the participants, who, at the end of the presentation, asked several questions on the topic discussed.
Finally, Colonel Antonio Coppola, Commander of the Marshal School and Viterbo Airport, spoke to thank General Magnani for his intervention and to present him with the crest of the Department.
