Study of joint initiatives at national and international level: Prof. Luigi Carrino, President of the Campania Aerospace District (DAC), and Gen. Capo (a) Francesco Langella, as a Dual Use expert of the DAC, met with Col. Nicola Gigante, Commander of the School of Specialists of the Italian Air Force, to develop together new hypotheses for collaboration between the two important entities in the Campania region. The meeting was also attended by ing. Claudio Voto and ing. Gennaro Russo, respectively experts in Aeronautics and Space of the Campania Aerospace District. Col. Nicola Gigante showed, during a dedicated meeting and during the subsequent visit to the educational laboratories of the new multifunctional center, the current structures, potential, and development lines of the Specialist School aimed at creating an ecosystem of excellence, especially in the field of aeronautical maintenance, which places the Specialist School at the center of the system – in a prominent position – as a hub for inter-agency and international training, also benefiting from collaboration with the university world and the industry. The DAC – Campania Aerospace Technological District S.c.a.r.l. was established on May 30, 2012 as part of the National Operational Program “Research and Competitiveness”. It brings together entities operating in the fields of Research, Development, and Training in the Aerospace sector. More than 170 actors are involved in the DAC, including large companies (including Alenia Aermacchi, MBDA, Magnaghi Aeronautica, Atitech, DEMA, Telespazio), research centers (including the CIRA, the CNR, the ENEA, and the 5 universities in Campania with engineering courses), and SMEs (including those that are members of the 8 partner consortia). The School of Specialists is hierarchically subordinate to the Command of Schools A.M./3rd Air Region of Bari. It is currently a military institute for the training of personnel of the Aeronautica Militare, the Other Armed Forces, Armed Corps and non-State entities, as well as personnel from foreign Armed Forces.
