The Commander of MNBG-W Visits the TFA in Gjakova

Colonel Longo was welcomed by the Commander of the A.M.I.Ko. Airport, Colonel Massimetti. The Commander of the MNBG-W, having been received by Colonel Giuseppe Massimetti, Commander of the A.M.I.Ko. Airport, attended an introductory briefing on the Airport's operational capabilities and the organisation of the TFA, within the Base's “Sala Azzurra” (Blue Room).
In particular, the capabilities for managing transit aircraft and the support that TFA can provide to the Italian contingent in Kosovo were represented. Subsequently, Colonel Longo visited the airport, where he observed at close quarters the men and women of the Air Force carrying out various airport services, including Air Traffic Control, Firefighting services, Meteorological services, as well as Aircraft Assistance.
The visit concluded with the signing of the Department's Guest Book and the traditional exchange of crests. The Air Task Force, as part of Operation “Joint Enterprise,” operates under the command of the National Contingent Commander/Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W) of KFOR and ensures the functionality of the AMIKO airport to contribute to the logistical support of the national contingent in Kosovo, as well as ensuring maximum support to the flight activities of national and non-national military aircraft engaged in operations in the theatre.
