General Conserva visited the Coordination and Control Service of the Air Force to appreciate the work carried out during 2017 and the innovations to which the SCC System is subjected. He was accompanied by the President of the Sub-officers of the C.O.A., General Conserva attended a presentation of the main activities of the Department. Among the innovations related to the SCC System, recently introduced is the Free Route Airspace Italy (FRAIT), which allows all aircraft in flight at altitudes above 11,000 meters to choose a direct route without reference to the network of routes and aerovias, thus making the coordination system between the SCC and the ACCs (Area Control Centers) of the National Flight Support Agency (ENAV) more sophisticated. At the end of the presentation, General Conserva expressed his deep appreciation for the work carried out and emphasized that “the key element of every F.A. project is the personnel” and how necessary a “good command action at all levels is for the motivation and enhancement of each soldier.” The visit continued at the operational control room of the S.C.C.A.M., where the operational air traffic controllers ensure daily national Command and Control (C2) functions and guarantee the execution of military air operations in complex operational scenarios, even for the growing needs of civil aviation. At the conclusion of the visit, General Conserva, as is customary, signed the Honor Roll of the Department.
The Air Force Coordination and Control Services provide direct support for the execution of military air operations through the four operational rooms in Ciampino, Brindisi, Milan and Padua. These activities are essential in complex operational scenarios such as those related to the emergence of today’s international crises, ensuring that military air operations can coexist, safely and effectively, with those of civil aviation. This is achieved through an effective and well-coordinated coordination between the military and civil components (ENAV). The Air Force Coordination and Control Services are located at the ENAV ACC (Air Traffic Control Centers).
