The handover ceremony with Col. Ferri as head of the Department for Aeronautical Meteorology Experimentation took place in Vigna di Valle. The event, presided over by Colonel Paolo Malco, Director of the National Centre for Aeronautical Meteorology and Climatology (CNMCA), was attended by department personnel as well as several authorities and representatives of military bodies based in Vigna di Valle.
Colonel Ferri, awaiting to assume the Directorship of the CNMCA, during his farewell speech, thanked all the personnel for the important results achieved and wished the best of luck for the prestigious and delicate role to his successor.
Colonel Spuri, in turn, thanked the Higher Authorities for the trust placed in him, expressing sincere gratitude to Colonel Ferri for what had been achieved.
Finally, Colonel Malco highlighted how only careful management and the commitment of the personnel can ensure that the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service achieves the highest qualitative, technological and professional standards; standards to the achievement of which Re.S.M.A. contributes through its experimentation activities in the sector of instrumental observations and through the calibration and testing activities of meteorological instruments, certifying and guaranteeing the quality of their measurements.
Colonel Spuri arrives at the Command of Re.S.M.A. following extensive experience gained across various components of the Air Force Meteorological Service: from the 2nd Wing in Treviso to his most recent position as Deputy Head of the 2nd Office of the General Airspace and Meteorology Office, having also served as a member of the Scientific Section within the very department he is now taking over to direct. The Aeronautical Meteorology Experimentation Department (Re.S.M.A.) of Vigna di Valle has been operating for over 100 years in the study and experimental verification of meteorological instrumentation, as well as in the measurement of chemo-physical variations in the composition of the atmosphere. Re.S.M.A. is an Italian Air Force department that continues to establish itself, including internationally, for its dedication to experimentation in the sector of instrumental observations within the field of meteorology, ensuring the highest possible quality in air navigation assistance. The Department also guarantees the quality of environmental monitoring in compliance with international regulations, which the Armed Force, through its Meteorological Service, carries out via a network of around 100 operational stations distributed throughout the national territory.
