On Tuesday 17 December, the meeting took place at Palazzo Aeronautica for the Christmas festivities between the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squadrone General Luca Goretti and the members of the “Stormo Azzurro”, an informal association that brings together all foreign military attachés in “light blue uniform”, i.e. accredited to the Air Force, and the “Stormo Rosa”, made up of their assistants. Also present at the meeting were the SChief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Aurelio Colagrande, and the Head of the 3rd Department of SMA, Air Brigadier General Roberto Del Vecchio.
During the meeting, at which those present exchanged good wishes for the upcoming holidays, the Chief of Air Staff presented the Commander of the Blue Wing with, Colonel Liad Zak, Defence and Air Attaché at the Embassy of Israel, to the Commander of the Rose Wing, Ms. Silvia Ayò, an Italian Air Force crest, which the two Commanders in turn reciprocated with the crests of the two “Wings”.
It General Goretti He took the opportunity to thank the Military Attachés and their assistants for the valuable work they do, acting as a link with their respective countries. This role is even more significant during this historical period, where the Air Force is increasingly present in various regions of the world, such as the Indo-Pacific, Australia, Japan, or North America, to mention just a few of the destinations visited in the past year with logistically complex and challenging operations. In turn, the Commanders of the Pink Wing and the Blue Wing wished to thank the Air Force for its willingness, collaboration, and the opportunities granted to them to learn about the Armed Force, for example, through visits to Air Force units in Sardinia.
The “Stormo Azzurro”, established in 1991, is an association formed by Foreign Aeronautical Attachés, but also by Attachés belonging to other Armed Forces, provided they are accredited to the Air Force by the Government of the Italian Republic.
The “Pink Squadron”, established in 2001, is an association formed by the Assistants of Foreign Military Attachés accredited to the Air Force by the Government of the Italian Republic.
The purpose of the two associations is to foster mutual understanding in order to improve working relationships, facilitating professional relations, understanding and collaboration between the various Military Attaché Offices.
