It 213rd Flight Group was born on 30 June 1952 from the previous 3rd Flight Group. Historically, it is considered the “nest” for all young eagles of our Armed Force, as it has always been responsible for training pilots to obtain their military pilot's license. Even today, its mission it has remained the same but is reserved exclusively for student pilots destined for fighter aircraft. Placed in ”position of command“ in 1978, on 8 September 1987 it was re-established as the 214th Professional Training Group, with duties of ”ground school’ and flight instructor training. On 10 December 2015, following the introduction into the Armed Force of the“Integrated Pilot Training System (IPTS) In 2020, the 214th was once again reorganised as a Flight Group. From that point onwards, the role assigned to the “Rossi” was to provide the fundamentals of military flight during the training of Phase II, aimed at identifying the branches on which students will fly: fighters, remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), helicopters, and conventional (transport). The 214th Flying Group's activity is carried out on aircraft MB339A.

For the participants, it was an opportunity to to find oneself, with family and friends, and to reminisce together about the experiences and the moments we’ve shared with the Group, but above all to relive, once again, the ideals, values and passion for the Arma Azzurra, which next year will celebrate its 100 years since its establishment on 28 March 1923.
