For the fifth consecutive year, the Air Force Detachment hosts the “technical gathering” of the runners of the Air Force Athletics Team.
The athletes of the Aeronautical Sports Center who will hold the training camps in Siracusa are the runners Aviere Capo Daniele Paris and Aviere Capo Mirko Dolci, led by coach Primo Aviere Capo Dario Privitera and followed by physiotherapist Primo Aviere Scelto Lorenzo Cannata.
For them, a return to Siracusa after the positive experiences of the past years and in particular that of last year, which saw Daniele Paris complete the entire preparation on Sicilian soil and achieve results that allowed him to return to wearing the national team jersey, before a bad inflammation in the Achilles tendon compromised his final season. The situation is different for the national runner and 2013 Italian indoor champion, Finanziere Scelto Giorgio Rubino, of the Sport Group of the “Gialloblu” who, for the second consecutive year, in agreement with his Sports Club and with FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation), has chosen Siracusa and the Aeronautic Detachment as his permanent base for preparation for the upcoming international events.
Rubino will seek redemption this season, after the disappointment he experienced at the World Championships in Moscow, where he arrived in poor physical condition due to an injury he suffered in the spring, which ruined his winter preparations in Syracuse and his hopes of a medal.
The Ostia financier will be supervised this year by Alessandro Garozzo, the technical staff manager of the A.M. Sergente Sports Centre’s track section, in close collaboration with the federal coach Ruggero Sala. Asked by local media, the Commander of the Air Detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Paolo Tredici, stated: “The presence of the students from the Military Aviation Sports Center is no longer a novelty, as this is the fifth consecutive year that Siracusa has been chosen to host technical gatherings and winter training camps. I am pleased that the Military Aviation Sports Center has found in the Aeronautic Detachment the support through which it can carry out activities that would otherwise be unsustainable with current resources. At the same time, I am proud to contribute, through this support, to making Siracusa a reference point for athletes at the national and international level.”
