On Wednesday, February 5, 25 trainee pilots were welcomed by Air Division General Fabio Molteni, Commander of the Experimental Flight Center. The delegation, led by the officer in charge of the assignment, was welcomed by Air Division General Fabio Molteni, Commander of the Experimental Flight Center. The visit began at the Experimental Flight Department (RSV), where Colonel Gianluca Ercolani, Commandant of the RSV, presented the complex testing and experimentation activities that pilots from the Department carry out on a daily basis. The areas of responsibility of the RSV pilots are vast, as they encompass, at various levels, all the different units of the Armed Forces. The visit then covered the other departments of the Experimental Flight Center: the Chemical Department, the Armament Department, and the Aeronautical and Space Medicine Department. Particular attention was paid to the synergies resulting from the collaboration between the various departments of the Experimental Flight Center, whose results are aimed at supporting the pilot’s work. At the conclusion of the visit, the officer in charge of the inspection expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to visit the Center. The RSV currently constitutes the center of excellence for the effective conduct of experiments and tests on the means, equipment, software, and materials related to the flight operations of the Armed Forces, providing constant support for the development programs of the Air Force and the needs of the Operational Departments. The RSV aims to be a highly qualified instrument capable of responding to the needs of an aeronautical technology that is advancing at an extremely rapid pace. The personnel is trained according to the standards of the existing Experimental Test Centers in technologically more advanced countries, with which the RSV maintains continuous and constant contact through participation in the Pilot-Test Engineer Courses, the Engineer, Technical, and Mechanical Test Engineers at the schools in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
