A female representation of the A.M. participated in the celebrations of March 8th held at the Salone dei Corazzieri at the Quirinale Palace. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Cristoforetti took the stage to briefly recount her experience, while the images of her activities as a pilot and training as an astronaut were being broadcast. Before the event concluded, President Napolitanoha presented the Knight’s Cross of the OMRI to Lieutenant Ida Casetti, pilot of the 31st Ciampino Squadron, with the following motivation: ’For the professionalism demonstrated in facing a situation of great danger, for the courage and determination that led her to overcome the serious consequences of the accident and enabled her to resume active service as a Pilot Lieutenant of the Aeronautica Militare.“.
