On Sunday, December 5, the Air Force met with disabled young people from ANFFAS in Cesena. Colonel Ludovico Chianese, Commander of the Squadron, welcomed them, addressing a greeting to the president of ANFFAS, Giorgio Manuzzi. “This is a meeting that takes place every year – he said – and which, more than being linked to the name of the 15th Squadron, is an expression of the will of the people who make it up. It is thanks to their hearts that these things are possible, and I am proud to be in charge of people like them.’ Mr. Manuzzi thanked the Commander, saying ’I feel like part of a family. It is important for us as parents to be with people who do not have the same problems as us, but who express solidarity, generosity, and sensitivity towards our reality. This is very important and helps us, giving us the strength to continue.” We have a slogan, ”Together to realize a dream’, which is the basis of the ‘Fattoria dell’Ospitalità’ project in Diegaro di Cesena, and I believe that the same slogan is perfectly applicable to this day with you. At the Fattoria, which will open in the reception area in spring 2011, on a plot of approximately 95,000 square meters, the children will be accommodated in case of special needs. In the future, there will also be a real farm with animals for ‘Pet-Therapy’ and hippotherapy, and recreational courses (ceramics, sewing, etc.) will also be held. The afternoon was enjoyed by the Montiano dance school and the ”Amici della Danza – Havana Club Latino‘ school with performances, respectively, of classical dance and Caribbean dances. Music and fun accompanied the event, with the children from the association dancing together with the staff of Stormo and their families. At the end of the day, the boys received some gifts and Christmas wishes from the pilots of the 81st and 83rd CSAR Group and from Santa Claus of the 15th Air Wing. The 15th CSAR Group, with its Groups/Centres, guarantees 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, while also contributing to public utility activities such as the search for missing people at sea or in the mountains, the transport of emergency medical patients in danger of life, and the rescue of seriously traumatized people. Since its establishment to date, the Stormo crews have saved about 7,000 people in danger of life.
