On the same day, a Falcon 50 aircraft transported an elderly woman in life-threatening condition and a baby suffering from a serious illness.
A Falcon 50 aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino (RM) took off at 10:45 AM for Reggio Calabria and picked up the patient to transport her to Milan Linate, where she was awaited by an ambulance that promptly transferred her to the Intensive Care Unit of the Pavia Hospital.
At 14:00, the aircraft took off from Milan Linate airport bound for Punta Raisi for a second medical transport. After landing in Palermo at 16:00, the Falcon 50 embarked a young patient, suffering from severe chronic respiratory failure and admitted to the Anaesthesia and Resuscitation Unit of the Cristina Hospital in Palermo, and departed for Montichiari airport, for the subsequent transfer of the young patient to the Anaesthesia and Resuscitation Unit of the Brescia Civil Hospitals. At 19:00, the aircraft returned to Ciampino.
The aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino are used for State transport and for public utility missions, such as the urgent medical transport of sick people, severely injured individuals, and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in favour of people in situations of risk. This latter activity, given the imminent danger to the lives of the people being transported, requires a readiness level of twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
