A Falcon 900 from the 31st Squadron at Ciampino carried a one-year-old child and a 53-year-old woman. Upon arriving in Detroit, the small child was accompanied by his caregivers; the crew then departed for Dallas, where a 53-year-old woman, admitted to the Environmental Health Center of the Texas metropolis, was waiting to be returned to Italy.
The patient, suffering from a very serious condition, has been under the care of the Dallas Specialist Center since 2005 and, after completing the latest round of treatment, she returned to Italy. The woman was accompanied by her mother, her partner and a doctor.
The aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino are used for State transport and for public utility missions, such as the urgent medical transport of sick people, severely injured individuals, and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in favour of people in situations of risk. This latter activity, given the imminent danger to the lives of the people being transported, requires a readiness level of twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
