Double medical transport for organ transplant

Medical transport was necessary on Tuesday, 23rd November, to facilitate two organ transplants from Bari and from Amendola using a P-180 of the 14th Wing.

Medical transport was necessary on Tuesday, 23rd November, to facilitate two organ transplants from Bari and from Amendola using a P-180 of the 14th Wing.
The aircraft, under the command of the crew chief, Captain Ivano Telesca, supported by the co-pilot, Captain Mariano Ccordame, and the onboard operator, Warrant Officer Stefano Miconi, landed in Bari at 18:30 local time to embark the patient and his wife. After approximately 30 minutes, the aircraft departed for Amendola military airport, home of the 32nd Wing, where it landed at 19:30 local time to embark the second patient, a 65-year-old, and a family member, who was also on the waiting list for an organ transplant. After approximately 30 minutes, the aircraft departed for Bologna civil airport, where it landed at 21:00 local time. Awaiting the patients were two ambulances for transfer to the polyclinic in Modena for the first patient picked up in Bari, and to the Sant'Orsola civil hospital in Bologna for the second patient picked up at Amendola military airport. The aircraft then returned to Pratica di Mare, where it landed at 22:40 local time.
