On Wednesday 25th November, Corps General Roggio was welcomed upon his arrival by Colonel Masi. The visit, organised by the Directorate General for Military Personnel (Persomil) in collaboration with the Air Force Schools Command/3rd Air Region, had the objective of fostering informational osmosis between the personnel employed by Persomil and the realities of other Armed Forces, such as the Frosinone airport. The customary honours rendered to General Roggio and the signing of the Visitors' Book at the Command Office marked the beginning of the visit, which continued in the Stormo's multimedia room. Here, the Director of Persomil and the large number of personnel accompanying him were briefed on the tasks and structures of the Schools Command by General Cormio. During the briefing held by Colonel Masi, the welcome guests were able to appreciate the unique nature of the Stormo, being the only school in Italy for achieving the helicopter pilot licence for personnel from all Armed Forces and Armed Corps, as well as state bodies; the visit concluded with an exchange of crests.
The visit then covered the Wing's most important sectors, including the 208th Flying Group, where the Group's activities were briefly explained. Numerous questions were asked concerning the aircraft in service, the TH-500B (NH-500E), and the courses held within the airport, including their structure for the different types of students in training. Furthermore, technological innovations affecting the sector were showcased, notably the adoption of the electronic flight log, a computerised system for managing the flight activity undertaken by students in training.
In the INSIAU classroom of the Professional Education Group, the potential of the interactive computerised teaching system on the ‘e-learning moodle’ platform was demonstrated, with the possibility for those attending piloting courses to access lessons via a web browser, meaning not only on a local network but also and above all through the internet.
The final stage of the visit was the Aircraft Efficiency Group (AEG), where the technical intervention methods for the TH-500B helicopters in service were showcased, along with the various stages of work that allow the Wing's technical personnel to restore the aircraft's efficiency entirely independently. Final honours were paid to General Roggio, concluding the day spent in the company of the Director and employees of the Directorate General for Military Personnel.
