Defence: Multinational exercise “Ferocious Falcon 6” concluded in Qatar”

The Italian Air Force operated Eurofighter and KC-767A assets for in-flight refuelling. Ferocious Falcon 6 was conducted to increase joint integration, interoperability, and response capability in the Gulf area.

The international exercise concluded at the Al Qalayil shooting range “Ferocious Falcon 6”, led by the Italian Defence with assets from Army, Navy, Air Force and Carabinieri, along with France, Great Britain, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey. The objective was to increase integration, interoperability, and joint response capability in the Gulf region.

Now in its sixth edition, the exercise was organised by Ministry of Defence of Qatar and, for Italy, from the Joint Operations Command (COVI). The programme has foreseen a Command Post Exercise (CPX) for the integration of command posts, a Field Training Exercise (FTX) with focused activities and an international seminar dedicated to the main contemporary military challenges. Italy intervened in the technical panel on the’Electronic Warfare, illustrating the tools for electromagnetic spectrum protection.

The concluding phase of FTX saw the “Aosta” Mechanised Brigade develop a scenario Warfare in a desert environment, employing next-generation ground platforms, fire support, engineering, and target acquisition. In parallel, the Air Force operated with assets Eurofighter e KC-767A for the In-flight refuelling.

The final day was attended by the Ministry of Defence of Qatar, the Qatari Armed Forces' leadership and military delegations from participating nations. Italy was represented by Vice Commander of COVI, Rear Admiral Giacinto Sciandra.

During his official visit to the country, the Secretary of Defence Guido Crosetto met the Italian staff engaged in the activity, highlighting their professionalism and contribution to bilateral cooperation.
