After a course of advanced specialization designed for all the Armed Forces on Wednesday 30 May, in the presence of Colonel Dario Tarantino, commander of the Airspace Control Training Department (RACSA), the closing ceremony of the 36th Basic Tactical Data Link course took place. This advanced specialization course is part of the Air Defense courses conducted by the Department. The officers and non-commissioned officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force, belonging to different categories such as pilots, air defense controllers, ground specialists, on-board specialists and technicians, received the certificate of eligibility for the first time. The course’s purpose was to provide the participants with basic theoretical training regarding the architecture, operating methods as well as the operational use of the various types of Link that is, connections between the various operational units through the automated exchange of information between the computers attached to the various weapon systems (military aircraft, command and control systems, military ships, anti-aircraft batteries) in order to share the current tactical situation and be prepared to react more effectively in a joint manner.
During the closing ceremony, the Course Leader highlighted how this training activity was particularly interesting for all the participants, not only for the subject matter covered, which will be implemented in various operational areas in the future, but above all for achieving a significant level of standardization, at inter-force level, of the technical language used in the sector.
The RACSA is the training agency of the Air Force that has the task of training the Officer Sub-Lieutenant and Troops of all the Armed Forces, including foreign ones, in Air Defense Control, Air Traffic and Meteorology, as well as providing training support to other State Departments such as Civil Protection and the National Fire Brigade Corps.
