On Monday, July 23, as part of industrial policy and international relations activities, a delegation from the United States Air Force visited the 4th Telecommunications and Defense Systems Brigade. The delegation, welcomed by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Vincenzo Falzarano, was briefed on the Brigade’s main activities, particularly those dedicated to the maintenance of the radar systems used by the Armed Forces and the associated spare parts logistics system. The visiting personnel were then taken to the Fixed Air Defence Radar (F.A.D.R.) located on the base of the 122nd Radar Squadron in Borgo Sabotino. The F.A.D.R. forms the backbone of the program with which the Italian Air Force has begun replacing its aerial surveillance systems, using the new Wi-MAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology for high-speed wireless Internet access. At the end of the visit, the head of the U.S. delegation greeted General Falzarano, expressing words of appreciation for the Agency’s work and for the professionalism demonstrated. The traditional exchange of crests sealed the end of the visit to the Brigade.
