The students of the ‘G. Douhet’ Military Air Academy have completed the sea acclimatization course at the Alghero Airfield Detachment
This orientation course, similar to that reserved for naval personnel and fixed-wing crew members of the Armed Forces, aims to provide students with the basic knowledge for survival in a temperate environment, improve physical performance, and develop the ability to manage physical and psychological stress in emergency situations in the water. The activity is carried out by alternating theoretical lessons covering all aspects of survival, with particular emphasis on procedural and emergency procedures, and, above all, practical lessons on the different swimming techniques, rescue techniques, and use of the equipment provided.
The course was conducted by two qualified instructors, Lieutenant Colonel Luca Fraschetti, from the 70th Wing in Latina, whose mission is to select and train the future military pilots of the Aeronautica Militare and other Italian and foreign Armed Forces, and Captain Davide Mariani from the 61st Wing in Lecce, whose mission is to provide training for the pilot trainees of the Armed Forces in order to obtain the Military Pilot’s Certificate and contribute, with their assets, to the operational activity of the Aeronautica Militare.
The students of the ‘Dardo’ course have lived this experience, demonstrating great commitment and enthusiastic participation, while having the opportunity to deepen the operational aspects of the Armed Forces, which are extremely significant for their training process.
