The 12-hour course complies with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 81 of 2008 and Ministerial Decree No. 388 of 2003.
The lessons, held in the meeting room of the Authority for a class of 22 participants, were conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Bignami, from the Main Infirmary of Villafranca (VR), in coordination with the personnel of the 112th Depot.
Trained personnel are employed at the Meteorological Tele-stations of San Valentino alla Muta, Monte Paganella and Passo Rolle, for a total of 5 people. Another 17 course attendees, however, work at the 112th D.S.A.M. (13 military personnel, 3 civilian employees and a Carabinieri officer from the local Fixed Station).
The course covered the main theoretical and practical concepts necessary to: alert the emergency services, recognise a medical emergency, carry out first aid interventions, understand the essential elements for acting in trauma situations and in the presence of injuries caused by physical and chemical agents, and acquire practical intervention skills (communicating with the National Health Service, first aid techniques for acute cerebral and respiratory syndromes and in the event of accidental exposure to chemical agents, haemorrhage control, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and techniques for lifting, moving and transporting trauma patients).
The topics covered stimulated numerous questions and student participation, so much so that the final assessment exam produced excellent results.
At the end of the course, the Commander of the 112th D.S.A.M., Lieutenant Colonel Marco Metrano, presented the certificates of attendance to the participating personnel, thanking the Principal Infirmary of Villafranca and Lieutenant Colonel Bignami for the valuable support provided.
