In Guidonia 38, 38 students from the Military Air Force School flew for the first time on the gliders of the Naval Aviation Flying Center. The activity, planned as part of the School’s Training Offer Plan, aims to provide an initial introduction to flight by allowing students to approach the Twin-Astir gliders for the first time. Each student completed 4 sorties on the paragliders provided at the Flying Center on the Vela, each lasting half an hour. During the “missions,” the boys had the opportunity to become familiar with the controls, learn the radio communications between the pilot and the ground control tower, and experience the sensation of the takeoff and landing maneuvers, that is, the typical elements of a normal flight activity but completely new to them. During the 11 days of stay at Guidonia Airport, the students completed 152 sorties, amounting to approximately 70 hours of flight time.
