L'Aquila, 26 March – The first Aviation Culture Course (CCA) of 2026 took place in the Abruzzese capital, an initiative by the Air Force aimed at high school students and focused on orientation towards the world of flight and knowledge of the tasks and professional opportunities offered by the Armed Force. More than 150 students from 5 local schools participated in the activity.

The course took place over two weeks, following a progressive approach that integrated theoretical training and practical activities. From 16 to 20 March, the theoretical phase was held at the “Amedeo d'Aosta” Institute in L'Aquila, managed by 60th Wing of Guidonia, During which students delved into the fundamentals of flight, meteorology, air navigation, and flight safety, while at the same time gaining knowledge about the organisation and professions of the Air Force.

From 23 to 25 March, the practical phase was held at L'Aquila's Aeroporto dei Parchi, during which students had the opportunity to experience a flight aboard the HH-139 helicopter of the’85th SAR Centre Pratica di Mare, dependent on 15th Air Wing of Cervia, applying the knowledge acquired in class.

The course concluded on 26 March with the final ceremony at Palazzo Spaventa dell'Aquila, during which students who distinguished themselves throughout the activities were awarded, at the end of a training course aimed at providing useful tools to guide future educational and professional choices.

The initiative is part of the guidance activities promoted by the Armed Force, offering participants direct contact with both the aeronautical environment and the various professions that contribute to carrying out the missions of the Air Force.

In the context of L'Aquila Italian Capital of Culture 2026, the course helps to strengthen the bond with the local area and to empower young people through a concrete and structured experience.

The Aeronautical Culture Course thus proves to be an effective orientation tool, capable of bringing new generations closer to both the world of aviation and the professional opportunities offered by the Air Force.
