Awarded on Monday, 14th March at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, Col. Gresta and Chief Warrant Officer Salvatori received honours from the President of the Provincial CONI of Rome. Colonel Gresta was presented with the prestigious recognition named after ‘Cosimo Impronta’, the late President of the Provincial CONI, intended for those who have done the most to promote sport and its values in the region over the past year. “The Sports Centre of Vigna di Valle has for years been a promoter of sporting events, both locally and nationally, that foster the development of young people as athletes and as individuals… indeed, it is a priority that sport is used as an educational tool to instill the right ethical and moral values in youngsters,” stated Colonel Gresta in his speech. Chief Warrant Officer Salvatori, on the other hand, was awarded as the best provincial athlete of 2010, for the excellent sporting results achieved during 2010, culminating in the victory in the team foil at the Turkish World Championships. The event, now in its ninth edition, was attended by the President of the Province of Rome, Nicola Zingaretti, and the Councillor for Sport, Patrizia Prestipino.
