General Magnani, Inspector for Flight Safety, held a conference for the students of the 16th Sergeant Course. The event is part of the activities planned within the Study Plan for the Sergeant Course, which also includes conferences on topics in various areas of interest to the Air Force, designed to provide future Sergeants with a qualified perspective on issues of utmost importance. Indeed, in order to disseminate the culture of Flight Safety and the related issues, which are always the subject of particular attention by the Air Force, this important subject of study is included in all the study plans of the training institutions. During the conference, General Magnani illustrated the fundamental concepts of Flight Safety, both from the perspective of prevention and investigation, emphasizing especially individual concrete cases of flight accidents that occurred in recent years on aircraft of the AM. Inspector S.V. then focused on the important concept of “Communicating More Effectively,” the acronym in Anglo-Saxon language being C.R.M. (Crew Resource Management), which is of fundamental importance in the activities related to the sector and must never be lacking in the proper management of the delicate flight activities. General Magnani then invited the young trainee Sergeants, future specialists of the Armed Forces, to consider the important aspects related to safety in the many activities they will undertake once assigned to operational units of deployment, whose directives will accompany them throughout their entire career.
At the end of the conference, which attracted great interest from the participants, Colonel Pilot Paolo Marco Felli, Commander of the A.M. School of Specialists, finally intervened. In thanking General Magnani for his presence in Caserta, he presented him with the crest of the Department. The 16th Sergeants Course consists of 174 trainees (including 16 women) and began on September 20, 2012. The first phase, conducted jointly by all categories, will end on December 21 with final exams and the appointment of A.M. Sergeants as permanent officers. The Sergeants will then proceed to the 2nd professional phase (beginning in January 2013 and lasting between 8 and 13 weeks), after which they will be assigned to the deployment units.
